Derbyshire: Cancer charity takes to the road

Experts from a cancer charity will be offering free information and support as part of a tour of the area.

The Macmillan Cancer Support’s mobile service will be stopping off in Matlock outside the Post Office, in Bank Road, on Tuesday, between 9am and 1pm. After that it will travel to The Showground, in Bakewell, where it will be part of Bakewell Show between 8.30am to 6.30pm.

Isolation can be a huge problem for many people affected by cancer so the team work to bring cancer information and support to communities to help ensure no one has to face cancer alone.

Helen Kennedy, lead Macmillan information and support specialist on the unit, said: “Feeling isolated can lead to patients skipping meals or not eating properly due to a lack of support at home and can even mean patients opt out having treatment because they don’t have the support they need.”
