Derby Mountain Rescue called to Lover’s Leap


DERBY Mountain Rescue Team were called out to a 72-year-old walker who had collapsed at a beauty spot known as Lover’s Leap, near Dovedale.

The man, from Kingston Upon Hull, had been out with a walking group on Sunday afternoon when he was taken ill whilst walking alongside a popular path by the side of the River Dove.

Members of the group called for an ambulance and due to the location of the casualty and the nature of the incident, an air ambulance and mountain rescue were also called.

The man did not recover and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the rescue team said: “The team would like to pass on their condolences to the friends and family of the gentleman.”
