Derby Hospitals public wi fi network set to go live

Derby Hospitals is offering patients and visitors the chance to browse online with its first public wireless network.

The service, which is set to go live on Monday, March 10, is being run by a third party company, WiFi Spark, and chargeable at a daily, weekly or monthly rate.

It will allow members of the public to connect to any WiFi Spark hotspot at either the Royal Derby Hospital or the London Road Community Hospital from their device and the service will be chargeable to users via a credit or debit card.

The service is charged at £4.50 per day, £12.50 per week and £17.50 per month and information on how to connect to the network will be on posters put up around both Derby Hospitals sites.

Paul Brooks, associate director of facilities management and patient experience at Derby Hospitals, said: “This network will improve patient and visitor experiences, allowing them to enjoy using the internet around our sites on their personal devices, which will only add to the comfort and enjoyment of their time here.”
