Two defibrillators purchased in memory of a Buxworth teenager were presented last week.
The two AED defibrillators were bought by New Mills Juniors in memory of former player Ben Obiora.
Ben, 16, collapsed while playing football for Dove Holes FC Reserves on April 21 last year and sadly later died.
A talented sportsman, he had played for New Mills Juniors for many years before making a number of appearances for Dove Holes FC Reserves once he turned 16. He also had trials for Liverpool FC and Macclesfield Town.
One of the defibrillators is to be kept at the gatehouse of Swizzels Matlow, near to the pitch at New Mills Recreation Ground, with the other located at the newsagents on High Hill Road, close to the Watburn Road/Ollerset Fields pitch.
All managers of New Mills Junior FC will be trained in their use and the equipment will be available to the public.
The defibrillators were presented to Ben’s family during an U15s friendly match against a Manchester City Academy U15s side, at Church Lane last week.
