Deadline for schemes that reduce crime

Police and crime commissioner Alan Charles is reminding community groups working to reduce crime that the deadline for funding is at the end of the month.

Groups, including the county’s special constables, volunteers and community workers, have until May 1 to bid for a total of £125,000. A second roundof funding runs from July 10 to September 12.

Applicants to the commissioner’s Crime Prevention Fund must show evidence their work supports the commissioner’s specific crime reduction goals and delivers tangible benefits to victims, offenders and the public.

Commissioner Charles said: “I’ve very publicly supported an approach that focuses on early intervention to overcome criminal behaviour patterns and I’m keen to hear from locally-run groups and projects which can help me to deliver this.”
