Daredevil teen takes the plunge

The 16-year-old of Ilkeston, took part in a charity skydive to raise cash for Maggie’s Nottingham – a centre offering professional support to people with cancer and their loved ones.

Georgia was inspired to fundraise after two close family members were diagnosed with cancer. The first, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

After undergoing major surgery and chemotherapy, the teen was spurred on by the bravery shown, and decided she wanted to do something to help others whilst also setting herself a new challenge.

In the run up to the plunge, she also had her long hair chopped, which was donated to Little Princess Trust.

Proud grandmother Sandra Kimbley said the family couldn’t be more proud of Georgia’s determination and bravery.

She said: “We are all immensely proud of her and what she has achieved to help others.

“When we had to break the news to Georgia that a family member had been diagnosed it was heartbreaking.

“We immediately suggested a charity event or fundraising bid as it was something to take her mind off the difficult time. It gave her something positive to focus on and a goal to reach.

“She was determined to jump all the way through the planning and didn’t seem nervous at all. On the day itself we thought she might have some nerves, but she was very confident – she loved every minute of it.

“We are so very proud of her and also want to thank everyone who has donated and been involved along the way.”
