Dales resident honoured by Queen

Celebrations are firmly in order for one Dales resident after she was awarded an MBE in Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours List 2013.

Mrs Caroline Dale-Leech, honorary secretary of the Carriage Foundation and owner Red House Stables Working Carriage Museum, Darley Dale, was appointed as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for Services to Heritage and to the community in the Peak District.

Caroline’s services to heritage were for the part she plays at the carriage museum – which has one of the finest collections of original horse drawn vehicles and equipment in Britain.

However, she also helps people with learning difficulties at the horse stables.

Caroline said: “I am absolutely honoured and very happy to have been given this award.

“To be honest, I actually found out four weeks ago, but you cannot say a word to anybody until the honours are made public.”
