A dad has been fined after he smashed a kitchen window following a discussion about Christmas cash problems.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday how Darren Hodkin, 28, of Hill Grove, Barrow Hill, Chesterfield, had been talking about expenditure at his partner’s home when he damaged a window.
Ian Shaw, prosecuting, said: “They had been talking about how tight things were and Hodkin became upset and his partner heard a smash and discovered a kitchen window had been broken.”
Hodkin pleaded guilty to causing damage after the incident last month. He told police he had left his partner’s home and returned for his keys and when he could not got back inside he struck the window but did not mean it to break.
District Judge Andrew Davison fined Hodkin £75 and ordered him to pay £75 compensation, £50 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
