Police who have launched an investigation following a house fire have arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of committing criminal damage.
The blaze was discovered in the first floor bedroom of the semi-detached property on Valley Road, Mastin Moor, near Staveley, about 11.30pm, on Saturday, February 7.
Staveley and Clowne firefighters armed with breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet extinguished the blaze within 40 minutes.
Derbyshire Constabulary revealed that Derbyshire fire service was treating the incident as suspicious and alerted police.
The bedroom suffered severe smoke damage and was left blackened by the blaze.
A skip being used outside the property was piled high with what is believed to have been fire damaged possessions.
A police spokesman said a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing criminal damage.
The accused has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
