Thieves posing as water company staff trick woman in Wingerworth distraction burglary

The thieves allegedly called at a house on Greenway at around 2pm on Tuesday and told the victim there was a problem with the water pressure.

Once inside, one went upstairs while the other stayed downstairs and kept the victim distracted.

It is not know how much money was stolen.

Police have urged people to be alert and cautious with doorstep callers, and not to open the door if they do not know who is calling.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen two men calling at homes in the area, or with CCTV or dashcam footage, around the time of the report.
