Teenager arrested on suspicion of murder after man, 49, dies in assault

An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following an alleged assault.

Derbyshire Police said the officers were called to reports of an assault at around 10.40pm on Thursday, January 23 near to Alfreton Park off Wingfield Road in Alfreton.

On their arrival, a 49-year-old man was found to be in a critical condition and he was rushed to the hospital where he died on Friday afternoon (January 24).

The 18-year-old man remains in police custody as enquiries into the murder investigation continue.
