Police launch new car crime crackdown in Derbyshire

A new campaign has been launched to tackle vehicle crime.

Derbyshire Police are running the initiative throughout August.

It aims to educate the public on how to secure vehicles and prevent thefts from cars, which peak in the summer as people leave windows open and leave vehicles insecure.

Det Chf Insp Hayley Barnett said: “Most car crime is opportunistic and therefore preventable, and there are a number of ways you can reduce the chances of vehicles being targeted.

“Lock all windows and doors when leaving your vehicle unattended, even if for just a short time. Ensure all valuables are removed and not on display.”
