Police drop investigation into claims a woman was trapped in north Derbyshire field

A police investigation into an alleged public order offence where a man was reported to have trapped a woman and her daughter in a field in north Derbyshire has been closed.

It comes after officers were initially called to a field in Killamarsh at 4.30pm on Monday, July 26.

The force received a report that a woman and her daughter were trapped in a field by a man with two large dogs.

He was said to have blocked their exit from the field and shouted abuse.

The pair apparently only managed to leave after the mum forced her way through the gate.

While Derbyshire Constabulary were initially investigating the alleged public order offence, the force confirmed the case is now closed.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: “We have spoken to the landowner in this case, who confirms he did ask a member of the public to leave his land.

"There are no independent witnesses and no CCTV covering this particular area.”
