Police appeal after serious assault in North Wingfield

Police are appealing for information after an assault in North Wingfield which left a man with serious facial injuries.

The assault happened between 2.30am and 4.30am on Tuesday, November 13 on Williamthorpe Road, North Wingfield, near the Five Pits Trail crossing.

A 28-year-old man was walking from Williamthorpe to North Wingfield, when he was verbally abused by two other men, who demanded his phone.

When the victim refused, he was punched and kicked, which continued when he was on the ground. The offenders then took his phone and an amount of cash.

The victim required hospital treatment for his injuries.

One of the attackers is described as being white, in his 20s, and of short stocky build. He was wearing a black hoodie. The second is said to be white and of short skinny build.

A number of vehicles were seen to drive past at the time of the offence and officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, has any CCTV or has any dash cam

footage.
