The team said: “Theft of this type of vehicle and of quad bikes is currently on the rise. If you own one of these types of vehicles please try to make it as secure as possible when not in use.

"To those who live, work and use rural areas for recreational purposes please pay closer attention should you see a vehicle such as this on the road.

"Details like the time, location and if there were any other vehicles that appeared to be in convoy with it help us in the early stages of an investigation.

"If you see a quad or UTV on the road very late at night or in the early hours we would encourage you to call us.”

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time of the theft, or has information or footage that could help police with their investigation, should call Derbyshire Constabulary on 101, quoting reference 658 of September 30.
