Police and firefighters were called after the alarm was raised over a ‘dangerous structure’ in Derbyshire.

Officers attended the scene on Nottingham Road, in Alfreton, to make safe a dangerous chimney which was overhanging a public footpath.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service said it was called at 9.23am today, Friday, January 15, and crews from Alfreton and Chesterfield fire stations attended.

In an update at midday, it said the crew from Chesterfield remained at the scene with officers from Derbyshire Constabulary.
