Man pleads guilty to murder of Jia Ashton

A MAN has pleaded guilty to the murder of Somercotes economics graduate Jia Ashton.

David Simmonds, 21, admitted causing her death at Nottingham Crown Court today (Thursday).

Jia, 25, was murdered on her way home from work at Thorntons in Somercotes on March 10. Her body was found in Sleetmoor Woods, Somercotes, by a Mountain Rescue search dog on Sunday March 13.

Simmonds will be sentenced next week.
