Man jailed after pushing victim to ground and stealing wallet in Chesterfield

A robber has been jailed for two and a half years for pushing a man to the floor and stealing his wallet in Newbold, Chesterfield.

Nathan Peter Cahill, 24, of Green Street, Old Whittington, pleaded guilty to robbery at a hearing at Derby Crown Court.

Just after 12pm on Wednesday January 22, a 41 year old man was walking along Racecourse Road when a man approached him from behind, pushed him to the floor and punched him in the eye.

He then stole the man’s wallet and ran off.

Following enquiries by officers, Cahill was arrested on Saturday January 25, and was later charged with robbery.

He was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £181 at the hearing on Monday February 24.

Last week, Derbyshire Constabulary launched Operation Relentless, a year-long initiative to tackle burglary, vehicle crime and robbery throughout the county.
