Man in hospital after 'stabbing' at railway station

Officers were called to Sheffield station at 8.30pm on Wednesday night, following reports that a man had been assaulted.

A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering a leg injury, consistent with having been stabbed.

He remains in hospital, though his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A 34-year-old man from Sheffield has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police would now like to speak to anyone at the station who saw the incident, or feel they may have information which could help the investigation.

Investigating officer Paul Kazimierczyk said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was around Sheffield station just before 8.30pm.

"You may have information which could prove vital.

“We would particularly like to talk to anyone who may have dash cam footage – there would have been a number of taxis around at this time.

“Thankfully incidents of this nature are rare, and we have a number of officers working on this investigation.

“It is believed the victim and the suspect were known to each other and this was not a random attack.”
