Police have arrested four people and seized drugs including spice and black mamba in Chesterfield.

Officers were taking part in a routine foot patrol to help them clampdown on synthetic cannabinoids.

Two men, aged 22 and 49, were arrested on Vicar Lane for possession.

A subsequent search of a nearby address on St Margaret’s Drive then saw two further people arrested; a 36 year-old man and a 38 year-old woman.

A volume of drugs, often referred to by names such as ‘Spice’ and ‘Black Mamba’, were seized together with a quantity of money.

Sgt Darran Clarke said “This is one example of our determined ongoing operation to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs and tackle the anti-social behaviour this fuels within our town centre.

“Further arrests are likely in the coming weeks as we continue to take drugs off the streets and money off those who seek to supply them.”
