The A632 at Walton, Chesterfield was blocked ‘for some time’ on Tuesday afternoon following a two-car smash at around 2pm, which left a male and female driver needing ambulance treatment after they were released from the wreckage.

A Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received the call to a two car collision at 14:12 yesterday. Crews from Chesterfield and Matlock were in attendance.

“Crews extricated the driver of each car, on male and one female, and handed them to the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service.”

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit’s bike team also attended the incident.

A spokesperson tweeted a picture of two cars badly damaged and sprawled in the road alongside the caption: “Thankfully no major injuries at this time.

“Investigation ongoing.”

The road was reportedly shut for four hours.
