Three fire crews discovered the garage “well alight” when they were called to Cabot Close in Openwoodgate at 6.45pm on Thursday (10 December).

East Midlands Ambulance service confirmed three patients were treated at the scene after they were called “to assist with a medical emergency” at 7.33pm.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “The fire service has told us it was an accidental fire and there is therefore no investigation.”

The garage roof has been left destroyed following the blaze.

A Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson added: “On arrival crews were met by a garage that was well alight containing three vehicles. Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) used three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

“Two people were handed into the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service. The police were also in attendance to close the road.”
