Kayleigh Anne Goodhead admitted two counts of assault when she appeared before Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 4.

Prosecuting, Becky Allsop said that the landlady and her husband, who runs the pub with her, had heard shouting outside the White Lion pub in Market Place, Ripley, late at night on January 3 this year.

She said that Goodhead had previously worked behind the bar at the pub, but had recently been barred, along with her boyfriend.

Goodhead was drunk and making very little sense while the man she was with was waving around a butter knife, she told the court.

When she saw the landlady, Goodhead started swinging punches, one of which connected with the landlady’s head.

She also kicked the landlord twice on the shins.

Mitigating, David Gittins told the court that Goodhead, 26, currently care of Oxford Street, Ripley, had been drinking while taking medication for depression and anxiety.

“She can’t really remember what happened,” he said. “It was because of alcohol.”

Goodhead was given a 12-month community order to include 18 rehabilitation activity days and ordered to pay £350 in compensation. A 12-month restraining order was also issued.
