Records show that, when breathalysed, Hendry, 37, of Butterscotch Walk, Scawthorpe, Doncaster, blew 80mg of alcohol to 100ml of breath, when the legal limit is 33mg - meaning he was more than double the legal drink-drive limit.

Hendry was banned from driving for a total of 20 months, but the disqualification will be reduced by a total of 20 weeks if he completes a recognised drink-drive awareness course by October 25 next year.

He was also fined £461 by magistrates and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £46 victim surcharge when he appeared before the court.
