A nightclub doorman has been banned from driving following a late-night drinking session with friends.

Derek Beilby, 46, of Slant Lane, Shirebrook, was stopped by police on Chesterfield Road at around 1.15am on September 5 because his driving was erratic. When police breathalysed the bouncer he was almost three times the legal drink drive limit, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told last Thursday.

The court was told the father-of-two had recently broke up with his partner and had been drinking with friends after work.

He was banned from driving for 23 months and given a 12-month community order - including 80 hours’ of unpaid work. He must also pay £145 in costs and charges.
