CHESTERFIELD: Court hearing into worker’s tragic death

A COMPANY which crushes rubble from construction and demolition waste is in court today, Friday, June 7, after a Chesterfield employee was killed by an overturning skip lorry.

The Health and Safety Executive is prosecuting Adis Scaffolding Ltd, which is in liquidation, following the fatal incident at the company’s site in Markham Lane, Duckmanton, on 22 July, 2008.

David Vickers, 37, of Walton, Chesterfield, died at the scene.

The company is due to be sentenced at Derby Crown Court today, Friday, June 7.

Mr Vickers, of Walton, Chesterfield, died instantly following the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but could do nothing to save the worker.

Mr Vickers left a widow Zoe, a daughter Zara and son Oliver.

A Manchester United fan, he enjoyed music and spending time with his children, family and friends.
