A TEENAGE burglar who asked the court to take more than a dozen similar offences into account has been jailed for 51 weeks.

Billy Barber, of Leen Valley Drive, Shirebrook, broke into a disused pub on July 8, 2011.

He was arrested inside the Kind of Diamonds, on Langwith Road, where he was trying to steal scrap to sell.

While on remand he told officers about 13 other shed and garage burglaries he had committed in the Shirebrook area. He asked for these to be taken into consideration at his sentencing.

He was also charged with allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in Shirebrook Market Place on April 21 and fraud after he tried to pay a stolen cheque into his bank account on July 19.

He admitted all the offences and was jailed for a total 51 weeks at a hearing at Derby Crown Court on Friday, August 26.
