A boyfriend landed himself in court after he smashed a TV during a row with his partner.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard how Sean Yates, 28, of Hill Top, Bolsover, struck the TV set while he was with his partner Ailesha Birch.
Prosecuting solcitor Becky Mahon said police were called to a property where the couple had been arguing and Yates had damaged her TV set.
Yates told police he was willing to pay for the damage.
He pleaded guilty ot the offence which happpened in June.
Defence solicitor Felicity Clarke said Yates struggles with reading and writing and he gets frustrated when he does not understand things and on this occasion he lashed out. She added that the couple no longer live together.
Magsitrates sentenced Yates to a one year conditional discharge and ordered him to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
