The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a dog was found in a stream in the grounds of Bolsover Castle.
The female German Shepherd type dog was found by a member of the public at around midday on November, 13.
The dog’s body was collected by the RSPCA and on examination it was found that she had some suspicious stab-type injuries to her body which could have been caused deliberately.
The dog is brown in colour and around three to four years old. The RSPCA is appealing to anyone who may recognise the description of the dog, or who may know who her owner is.
A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “We have reason to believe this dog was deliberately killed and her body then dumped in the stream. This is an unusual location and therefore we would urge anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact the RSPCA. We would also like to hear from anyone who may know who the owner of this dog is.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.”
