CRESWELL: Memories are made at Limestone House cafe

The Limestone House coffee shop has changed: it is now known as the ‘Memory Lane Café’ and offers a more varied menu for the community and visitors.

The name of the café depicts a link to memories of the past, including the recent past, as well as links to memorable people or events connected with Elmton and Creswell and the surrounding locality. An area in Limestone House will be dedicated to celebrating the memories of people and events and the tributes will change every six weeks.

The Elmton with Creswell Local History Group remember the Creswell mining disaster with their archive information display in the Limestone House Heritage Centre. Sixty-three years ago, on September 26, 1950, 80 miners lost their lives at Creswell Colliery. The display will remain in the Heritage Centre until mid-October.

Limestone House is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm, Saturday mornings from 9am to 12noon and is also now open on Sundays from 11am to 3pm.
