Craft centre at Eyam Hall now thriving

All of the spaces are now home to workshops for artists and like-minded people. The craft centre now compliments a visit to Eyam, and provides the perfect stop for treats to take home.

“I am so pleased that all the units are now filled, the centre now has a real buzz of activity, and it is fantastic to be promoting local artists and crafts people,” said Visitor Operations Manager, Jenny Aldridge.

Saffron Studio produces wonderful paintings and cards and gifts with recognisable local views. Visitors can watch Hazel painting or lino printing as well as buying her work. The Painted Plate offers a chance to paint your own piece of pottery, whether it’s a tile or a teapot, you can create something unique to take home. Gail the potter, also organises workshops and birthday parties, as well as catering to the casual visitor. Stitched Up Design is a new venture, Sarah, a textiles expert, sells haberdashery as well as made-up gifts and is an unexpected fount of knowledge. Crafty Red Fox, creates the most stunning pieces from wood and textiles for you to brighten up your home with often with a unique twist. Every piece in the workshop - cushions, brooches, clocks, wooden animals and cards are hand made by Gavin or Jane. The Little Leaf, is a celebration of local artwork and crafts from around the area, and is set in a fascinating combination of a delightful boutique and old stables. The products make the perfect gift, whether it’s unique children’s clothes, scarves, earrings, things for the home or pictures. You can catch Emily knitting, and she will be happy to tell you where each piece was made. Ridgeway & Jones Interior Design, a new venture from Eyam residents, Emma and Craig produce refurbished furniture, and vintage accessories for the home, as well as a range of home decorating ideas and equipment. Emma also offers a professional interior design service.

The Craft Centre is in the centre of Eyam, and makes the perfect stopping point on any visit to the area. The centre is in the picturesque old farm buildings belonging to Eyam Hall, and the locally run buttery café is open for delicious lunches, and refreshments.
