Condition of Chesterfield crash victim is improving, police say

The condition of a man who was involved in a serious crash in Chesterfield is improving, police said this afternoon.

At about 4.40pm on Monday, a black Volkswagen Golf left Chesterfield Road, Tapton, and struck a lamppost.

The 38-year-old driver was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital where he was described as being in a critical condition.

He has now been transferred to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
