COLUMN: A busy month for the Cadets

To kick-start the month, three cadets travelled to Millers Dale near Buxton, for an exhilarating day of mountain biking and abseiling from an 80-foot bridge. They were joined by other squadrons from the local area, which was a great opportunity to socialise and do something amazing that many others may never get to do. The day out took place on a brilliant sunny day, perfect for outdoors adventure training.

The squadron was also proud to welcome another uniformed staff member, who will be joined by other newly-promoted staff in the near future. Another significant event was the Cosford Road March. A demanding 25-mile march over two days, for both civilians and military personnel.

Cadet Sergeant Adrian Godfrey said of the weekend: “It was really hard, but fun. There was a sense of achievement at the end and I got to meet participants from around the world.”
Cadet corporal Danny Henman agreed. He added: “It was difficult but our team leader motivated us all of the way. It was definitely worth the blisters.”

The Cadets and staff could hardly walk the following parade night – which happened to be the squadron’s annual bowling trip. As a treat for the cadets this month, we spent a parade night at Chesterfield Bowl. Who doesn’t love bowling? It was a night of fun and laughter as the Cadets and staff split into teams to see who would be the best of the best. Cadets are looking forward to everything that will happen next month.
