Club learn confessions of a pantomime dame

The Inner Wheel Club of Heanor recently celebrated its 70th anniversary with an afternoon tea at Morley Hayes. This year's president, Ann Hodgkinson, welcomed guests from many Inner Wheel clubs within the district and also district chairman Di Sardesai, who is also a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Heanor. The event opened with the lighting of candles to past, present, future and International Inner Wheel. The roll-call was undertaken by secretary Sue Mukerjee and the grace given by Kathleen Hill. After the tea, district chairman Di brought greeting from the district executive, many of whom attended and spoke of the work and commitment the Inner Wheel Club of Heanor had given over 70 years both locally and internationally. President John Wensley of the Rotary Club of Heanor also congratulated the club, especially for the help and support given by the Inner Wheel to the rotary club.

This was followed by entertainment from actor Richard Westcott. He showed examples of theatrical make-up, pantomime costumes, quick change routines and told amusing anecdotes. He concluded with a finale of singing and then as a surprise to everyone he proceeded to transform Rotarian Dennis Hodgkinson into a pantomime dame.
