Clothes on gas stove cause Chesterfield house blaze

Firefighters were called out yesterday afternoon to tackle a house fire in Chesterfield caused by clothes set alight by a gas stove.

The incident happened at around 3pm at a large semi-detached property on Rose Wood Close in Newbold.

Fire crews used a hose to extinguish the clothes, before taking them outside the house to ventilate the property.

The incident was declared closed at 3.25pm.
