CLOCK CHANGE ALERT: Derbyshire road users warned to be extra vigilant

Derbyshire safety chiefs are urging road users to be prepared for the end of British Summer Time – which heralds the start of longer, darker nights.

The clocks will go back by one hour at 2am on Sunday.

Mike Ashworth, chairman of Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership, said: “It can take road users by surprise when the clocks go back.

“All of a sudden people find themselves doing their evening commute in the dark and it can cause problems.

• Wear reflective clothing or accessories when walking or cycling
