A Christmas market held by staff at the Clay Cross branch of Tesco raised £300 for three worthy causes.

Scores of stalls packed the store’s car park on Friday, November 30 with stallholders each paying £10 to peddle their festive wares.

On hand to entertain visitors were birds of prey from the Yorkshire Owl and Rescue, firefighters from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue, the Donut Van and Father Christmas himself.

Proceeds raised will go to Cancer Research, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.

Nicole Murtagh, community champion at Tesco Clay Cross and one of the organisers said: “It was a fantastic event, thank you to everyone involved.”
