CLAY CROSS: ‘Naughty Ladies’ themed talk at Townswomen’s Guild meeting

At the July meeting of Clay Cross Townswomen’s Guild the speaker, Val Duke, gave a talk entitled ‘Naughty Ladies’.

Val is a florist and keen historian and the members were enthralled by her tales of three famous, or infamous, women while watching her construct a beautiful flower arrangement to complement each of them. She moved seamlessly from historical details to the names of the flowers and foliage used in each arrangement.

The vote of thanks was given by Jean Spencer, a fellow flower arranger, who remarked that Val made it all look so easy even though it took great skill.

Three members were lucky enough to win one of the arrangements in the raffle.

Chairman, Margaret Kirby, gave details of the guild’s summer outing to Bridlington on Thursday, August 8.

Members were reminded that the next meeting on Thursday, September 19 has been cancelled. Instead, there will be a visit to Stockport that day.

The next meeting will be at the earlier time of 1.30pm on Thursday, October 17 at the Baptist Church, Market Street, Clay Cross. New members are welcome to attend.
