“A Moment in Time” is the title of a two-day flower festival to be staged at Alfreton Wesley Church this weekend.
The festival, which opens today (Saturday, July 7), will feature more than a dozen floral displays celebrating 2012 as a year of anniversaries.
Flower arrangements will range from the Queen’s diamond jubilee, the sinking of the Titanic and the Charles Dickens bicentenary to the first Punch and Judy show and the launch of “Desert Island Discs.”
The displays will be the work of church members.
The church will be open for viewing today from 10am to 5pm, and refreshments will be served throughout the day, including lunch from noon to 1.30pm.
Viewing will take place on Sunday between 2pm and 4pm and services will be led by Jonathan Reeve of Pilsley (10.45am) and Don Chambers of Giltbrook (6pm). The evening service will be cafe-style worship and will be followed by refreshments.
