Members of a mid-Derbyshire choir have boosted the work of Cancer Research UK to the tune of £1,000.
The Alfreton Male Voice Choir raised the money at a concert with the John Gill Country and Western Band in South Normanton.
A cheque for the proceeds was presented to Pamela McCane-Whitney, chairman of the Alfreton and District branch of Cancer Research UK.
Laboratories in Derby and Nottingham are helping research work into cancer, with the aim of earlier diagnosis and better treatment as well as greater understanding and awareness of how cancer develops.
The research has resulted in a doubling of the survival rates in the last 40 years.
