Chesterfield's Moo Bar will stay shut until at least mid-November
Chesterfield's Moo Bar will remain closed until at least mid-November.
Councillors met yesterday and decided to continue the suspension of the bar's licence.
No licensable activities can be conducted at the Corporation Street premises during the suspension, which could last as long as three months.
The suspension, ordered by Chesterfield Borough Council's licensing committee after a private hearing, was put in place with a requirement that the business reviewed its management policies and practices, particularly with regard to staff conduct, supervision and reporting, to ensure controls are put in place.
The decision comes two weeks after the committee imposed an interim suspension of Moo Bar's licence on police advice following several 'violent incidents' associated with the popular nightspot.
Councillor Lisa-Marie Derbyshire, chair of the licensing committee which made the decision, said: "We consider licensing issues seriously.
"After hearing representations from lawyers for the police and the licensee, Antonio Petrillo, we have decided that the suspension of the licence for Moo Bar must continue.
"We will review this in the coming weeks."
