CHESTERFIELD: Wills and inventories are useful to family historians

Chesterfield & District Family History Society held its July meeting at St Hugh’s RC church, Littlemoor. Vice-chairman Marion Yeldham welcomed members and guests.

Eileen Beech, a member, gave an interesting and informative talk about the usefulness of wills and inventories to family historians. After the talk members were given the opportunity to use the society’s resources (library, microfiche of census returns and the internet) to research their own family history.

Raffle winners were Pamela Kemp, Margaret Linacre, R. Mason, Yvonne Mason, Carol Snell and Brian Wilson.

The society’s next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 3, when the AGM to elect the committee for 2013/14 will be followed by a talk by Tony Stubbs entitles “RFC/RAF Family Connections”, a brief history of his father’s experience.
