The distraction burglary occurred on Wenlock Crescent, Chesterfield, on Tuesday (January 13) between 10am and 10.30am.
The male offender talked to the resident about fitting a safe and asked to make a record of the serial numbers of bank notes in the property. He was given some notes and then he said he had to go to his van. He never returned with the money.
This is the second distraction incident relating to the fitting of a safe in the Chesterfield area in the last couple of weeks. The previous one occurred in Staveley.
