Chesterfield sex shop wants more people to come inside

Private Shop on Chesterfield wants to become more eye-catching.

Darker Enterprises Ltd, which operates Private Shop on Sheffield Road, has submitted an application to Chesterfield Borough Council to vary its licence.

The company wishes to display A3 posters in the front window of the premises to make it more eye-catching and bring in more custom.

Three of the proposed posters include the words 'OPEN', 'SALE' and 'NEW CATALOGUE JUST IN - FREE - COME IN AND PICK UP A COPY - OVER 18S ONLY'.

In its application, Darker Enterprises Ltd states: "Our customers have often commented that they think that our shop looks closed from the outside, and that there was little visual incentive to resort to the premises.

"It is our belief that there would be no detriment to other premises, just a levelling of opportunity to trade and maximising the appearance of the premises without being offensive."

Chesterfield Borough Council’s appeals and regulatory committee will debate the application at a meeting on Wednesday.
