An elderley man was preyed on by a pair of tricksters who stole his watch in Chesterfield town centre.

The man was sat outside Marks and Spencers on Elder Way, when a man and a woman sat down either side of him.

Police said the woman put her hands over his eyes, and then kissed his cheek, while her male accomplice stole an 18 carat gold watch from his left wrist.

A passerby noticed the incident when the man asked the couple to leave him alone, and the thieves got up and walked away.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crime, which happened at around 1pm yesterday (April 30).
