Janice Flint, 55, of Brampton, Chesterfield, was travelling on the back of her husband David’s Kawasaki ER6N 650cc motorcycle when they slowly approached the traffic lights as a white single decker bus coming in the opposite direction struck Janice’s right leg.

She said: “It bashed into the side of my right leg and I was frightened when I looked down because I thought my leg might not even be there. I was badly bruised and my leg’s numb and the bus hit me with such force that some its white paint has come off on my jeans.”

Mrs Flint added that the collision happened about noon, on Sunday, September 27, as she and her husband were travelling from Brampton on the road to Stoney Middleton heading towards Buxton.

She claimed the bus driver failed to stop so she has been forced to report the matter to the police who have launched an investigation.

Mrs Flint added: “There was a line of traffic waiting before the temporary traffic lights about 200 yards after the junction Eyam so we passed the traffic properly on the right hand side and waited on the correct side of the white lines.

“The bus was coming towards us from in front and it came across the white line and the rear end of the bus hit me. We were still in the process of moving to the front of the queue of traffic and as we were moving he was moving too.

“But as soon as the accident happened the traffic lights at our side had turned to green which makes us think he had also jumped the lights from his side of the road.”

Mrs Flint has identified the bus as being an off-white coloured single decker 32 seater.

She added: “We think someone who has caused an accident like this should not be allowed on the road and it is also an offence to be involved in accident and not stop afterwards. My jeans have got a white scuff of paint from the bus and we’re hoping that we might be able to match this with the vehicle involved.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident are urged to call Derbyshire Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
