Views are being sought for the design of a memorial garden for babies.

Chesterfield Borough Council is working with the Chesterfield branch of SANDS (the Stillborn and Neonatal Death Charity) to create the special baby memorial garden in Boythorpe Cemetery, which the council runs.

Representatives of the group and council officers will be in the baby section of the cemetery between 10am and noon on Thursday, March 14 to discuss some ideas for the garden which have been developed by the SANDS group.

Cllr Chris Ludlow, Chesterfield Borough Council’s executive member for environment, said: “The garden will provide an area of contemplation and remembrance for parents whose babies have sadly died.

“We want the garden to reflect the wishes of those who will be visiting it so are keen to get the views of parents about how the garden should be designed.”

The garden plans are also available to view at the cemeteries and crematorium office based at Chesterfield Crematorium, Brimington Road, Brimington.
