A man took his own life after the death of his mother, an inquest heard.
David Wilson, 54, was found hanged at his home in Highbury Road, Newbold, in January.
Speaking at his inquest at Chesterfield coroners’ court on Monday, cousin Geoffrey Wilson said: “He was devoted to his mum.
“He looked after her until she passed away then he moved into his own house.
“In my view, he never really got over her death.”
Mr Wilson also suffered from depression, was blind in one eye and had deteriorating vision in his other eye.
He was pronounced dead at 4.10pm on Sunday, January 11 after police forced entry into his home when family grew concerned about his welfare.
Coroner James Newman concluded that Mr Wilson took his own life while the balance of his mind was disturbed.
