CHESTERFIELD: Items stolen from hotel room after key stolen from couple

Police are appealing for information after a couple on a night out in Chesterfield had a bag containing a hotel key taken from them and items stolen from their hotel room.

The couple, from Mansfield, were staying at Chesterfield Hotel, Malkin Street, on the night of August 3 and had gone into the town centre for a night out.

Sometime between 12.30am and 1.30am on August 4, the woman was separated from her husband and fell ill. It is believed her handbag, which contained the key, was lost or stolen when she fell ill.

The man returned to the hotel to find the room had been entered and their belongings stolen, including clothing, sunglasses, perfume and cosmetics.

His wife later returned to the hotel after being taken to hospital by paramedics and the burglary was reported to hotel staff.

The woman is described as white, in her 30s, around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with blonde hair. She was wearing a black playsuit and was carrying a black bag over her shoulder which was stolen.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the woman after she was taken ill near the Crooked Spire.

Anyone with information is asked to call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
