PARTYGOERS in Chesterfield were treated to a live performance of the Hallelujah Chorus to welcome in Easter Sunday.

Fifty singers and two trumpeters performed Handel’s famous chorus from the Messiah on the steps of the town’s museum as the clocks struck midnight.

The event was the idea of Paul King, secretary of Christians Together for Chesterfield. He said: “We added a certain something to Easter in Chesterfield. As different music continued to boom out of the various venues nearby, puzzled partygoers stopped and listened.”
